Adventure Sports have in recent years been best defined as being that of ‘Outdoor Sports or Activities” during which the participant will compete in a natural environment, with this competition being played out more against themselves than against others’. Although the term is sometimes used interchangeably, Extreme Sports can be considered as being that of a sub-category of Adventure Sports, as well as becoming referred to the related terms ‘Action Sport’ and ‘Adventurous Sport’ also being used.
An extreme sport is any sport which features that of speed, height, danger, a high level of physical exertion, highly specialized gear, or spectacular stunts. Another characteristic of activities such as extreme sports is that they tend to be more leaned towards that of the individual rather than to being a team sport. Extreme sports can include both competitive and non-competitive activities.
Some of the sports listed here as Adventure Sports would most likely not be considered as ‘true’ extreme sports. True Extreme Sports are defined more as being that of a leisure or recreation activity where the most likely outcome of a mismanaged accident or mistake was death. Extreme sports are often associated with young adults who are wishing to push themselves to the limits of their physical ability and fear, and in turn pushing the boundaries of a particular sport.
Looking at the list below, there is no excuse not to try at least for of adventure sport.
